    THIS ONE WAS BILLED AS ‘A VERY SPECIAL DAY ON THE GREEN.’ ON MICK'S BIRTHDAY IN 1978 THE STONES HEADLINED DAY ON THE GREEN # 4. IT WAS A SHOW THAT WASN’T EVEN SUPPOSED TO TAKE PLACE. THE ROLLING STONES DIDN’T PLAN ON PLAYING THE BAY AREA ON THEIR 1978 TOUR. BUT BILL GRAHAM MANAGED TO GET ONE MORE SHOW OUT OF THEM, ADDING THE OAKLAND SHOW AT THE END OF THE TOUR. THE SHOW WAS ANNOUNCED TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE EVENT. IT SOLD OUT IN 24 HOURS. AFTER THE OPENING ACTS OF SANTANA, EDDIE MONEY, PETER TOSH, AND TOOTS AND MAYTAL, THE ROLLING STONES PLAYED 19 SONGS.
