Description
Your bid is for
SHORELINER, Volume 17, Number 1, 1986, published by the New Haven Railroad
Historical & Technical Association, Inc. This high quality publication
measures 21.5 by 27.9 cm and contains 40 pages with Editor-Publisher William G.
Dulmaine, Jr. The cover photo shows RS-3 No.539 newly arrived at Woods Hole
with The Neptune in a 31 July 1960 photo by Ben Perry. These are the kind of
photos I love and today's railfan/photographers seemingly do not. The inside
front cover has 2 photos by Perry in B&W: The Martha's Vineyard steamship
arriving Woods Hole on 21 August 1955 and The Neptune ready to leave The Hole
on the same date. "Wire Train" EC&C has an editorial LET CONRAIL
BE CONRAIL; a W-151 P.S.; a letter from the NHRHTA Officers and Directors concerning
support for Amtrak; a CAB review on Drury's The Historical Guide to North
American Railroads and an obituary for G. Edward Prentice. DANBURY and NORWALK
RAILROAD, A SUCCESSFUL ENTERPRISE, Part 2, by L. Peter Cornwall continues the
D&N saga over 6 pages, including 5 period photos and an artist's sketch of
the Florida psgr shelter. An 1873 schedule reproduction includes the
newly-opened Shepaug Railroad. MODELING THE NEW HAVEN, WHICH HO RS-3 TO CHOOSE?
by Bill Dulmaine fills 3 pages with admitted nit picking and 7 model photos. A
CHATHAM SIDE TRIP by L. Peter Cornwall fills page 15 with a fascinating photo
and the story. The Chatham, Massachusetts, depot is still in use... as a
museum. ROUTE OF THE CAPE CODDERS AND NEPTUNES by Joel Rosenbaum tells us all
about the New Haven services to Cape Cod from New York City and elsewhere over
12 pages, including 13 photographs, with 3 in color, train consists in 1942 and
1955, a reservation receipt letter, and 8 advertising reproductions. A great
tribute to a wonderful service that is finally being partially resumed! ON THE
NEW HAVEN TODAY covers 2 pages: Woodlawn - New Haven TCS Complete and the
semaphores are gone; Ex-New haven RDC's service North Brewster to Dover Plains;
SPV's are out as are steam-heated cars on the Danbury Branch; Valley RR
considers hauling freight and the Connecticut Shoreliners arrive with their two
FL-9's in McGinnis paint. THE BAY COLONY RAILROAD by Bill Reidy tells this
contemporary 1986 story of continuing freight service on portions of the Old
Colony Lines over 6 pages, including a large map, 16 photos, and a locomotive
roster. TROLLEY STOP by C.A. Brown is entitled PROVIDENCE PROGRESSES and spends
4 pages covering lines in the city accompanied by a large map and a dozen
photos. All too short a piece.... The
rear cover shows Engineman Red Healy at Webster in the window of his RDC
"Shoreliner" on 21 July 1966 in a Carl L. Smith photo. This magazine
is in excellent, unread, new-old-stock condition. Your satisfaction guaranteed.
Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I
provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment
before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging
for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is
POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if
applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after
auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you
are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading. Alden Dreyer, 91 Reynolds
