In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 520 Santa Fe Railroad train order images, covering the entire state of Arizona on the Santa Fe Lines. There are 52 different locations represented here. Included is 1 station list showing each location and the number of orders copied at that location. Also included are seven employee timetable pages that cover all of this territory, so you can see where each location was, with respect to the others. This is very comprehensive coverage of train order operations in the entire state of Arizona on the Santa Fe. The line to Phoenix and all branch lines were train-order territory up until the Santa Fe did away with train orders entirely, around 1986. The main line across the north part was double track CTC/ABS, but there were many instances where temporary train order offices were established, so that one main track could be taken out of service for track work, and the other main-line track used for the short distance involved, by trains in both directions (eastbound and westbound). With as many trains as the Santa Fe ran in this area, there was always some place where this occurred.
As stated, there are 52 different locations represented, with at least one train order image from each one. Ages of the orders range from 1934 to 1985, There is a very nice mixture of slow orders and running orders, and virtually every Santa Fe town in the state is mentioned somewhere. Specifically, everything south of Williams to Phoenix, was still train order territory when train orders were discontinued in 1986.
The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations, engine numbers (some steam) and other operations unique to this area.
The orders in this CD shows many operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and many meets and flag orders, all consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere.
