    Description

    In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 539 Santa Fe Railway train order images, covering the entire main line of the Santa Fe between La Junta, Colorado and El Paso, Texas, via Albuquerque, New Mexico. Included is one station list showing each location and the number of orders copied at that location.
    Also included is a small timetable compendium of 9 employee timetables, all of which cover this trackage, plus much more. These timetables are:
    ATSF Colorado Division ETT #4  8-16-1965  20 pages;
    ATSF Colorado Division ETT # 5  4-24-1966  22 pages;
    ATSF Colorado Division ETT #6  6-1-1968  20 pages;
    ATSF Colorado Division ETT #8  10-2-1979  20 pages;
    ATSF Colorado Division ETT #15  10-28-1984  24 pages;
    ATSF New Mexico Division ETT #1  1-5-1975  16 pages;
    ATSF New Mexico Division ETT #6  8-4-1968  15 pages;
    ATSF New Mexico Div. ETT #7  9-27-1970  15 pages; and
    ATSF New Mexico Division ETT #10  9-11-1972  16 pages.
    Total of 168 images of employee timetable pages, covering years from 1965 to 1984.   These timetables are included so you can see where each location was, with respect to the others. This was a very strategic piece of main-line Railroad, and was all train-order territory until the Santa Fe did away with train orders entirely, around 1986. There are 5 branch lines included in this CD also: the Santa Fe District, York Canyon District, Santa Rita District, Deming District, and the Magdalena District. This CD covers 601 miles of main-line Railroad between La Junta and Albuquerque, plus the 5 aforementioned branch lines.
    The Super Chief, El Capitan, and other transcontinental Santa Fe passenger trains all ran over this line from La Junta to Albuquerque. Many examples of orders from many different locations are included here. Trains 3 and 4, the Amtrak Southwest Chief, still runs over this line today from LaJunta to Albuquerque, before turning west on the double track to California. Therefore, every timetable here includes at least one passenger train, whether Amtrak or Santa Fe. As a side note, everything run after May 1, 1971 on the passenger train side were all governed by Amtrak. However, the lion's share of these train orders, were issued to the Santa Fe passenger trains well before this date.
    There are 30 different locations represented here, with at least one train order image from each location. Ages of the orders range from 1920 to 1985. This is very comprehensive coverage of this line operations-wise. All of it was single track, even though CTC'd in later years. After CTC was installed, train orders from all intermediate points became very rare, account there were very few instances where one of these locations would put out an order, due to CTC and radio communication.
    All of the orders are in train order territory, many of them mentioning meets or other operational events, between passenger trains, and including the Warbonnet engine numbers. I know that a large percentage of Santa Fe's Warbonnet fleet's engine numbers are mentioned somewhere in this CD. These are the very small numbers, in use till the Santa Fe got rid of most of them in the 1970's. What few that were left, were used in freight service. Almost all of these orders are pre-Amtrak. A few mention Amtrak trains after May 1, 1971, when Amtrak took over all passenger service. The exception to the number series is the Santa Fe 200-class engines, which were painted the "freight" navy blue color with the Warbonnet yellow trim. A few of these engines are mentioned also, used entirely in freight service, run as extras. There are many of these included in the train order images from locations between (and including) LaJunta and Albuquerque.
    On the line south from Belen to El Paso, there was no passenger service after 1966 when Trains 13 and 14, the El Pasoan, was pulled. Timetable No. 5, the issue before the one included here, does show this train, but the #6 ETT included here does not. Thankfully, there are 4 orders in this CD issued to this train: one from Las Cruces, two from Los Lunas, and one from Rincon. The latest date of any order to this train included here, is from 1966.
    The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations, engine numbers (a few steam but many Warbonnets) and other operations unique to this very well-traveled piece of Railroad.
    The orders in this CD shows many operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and many meets and flag orders, all consistent with train-order operation. Even during CTC times, orders were still required as slow orders. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere.
    Very nice items that are obsolete and no longer used by any Railroad.
