    Description

Your bid is for the February 1932 issue of RAILROAD STORIES Magazine, which is Volume 7, Number 3, of the 1929 series of RAILROAD MAGAZINE that was published by the Frank A. Munsey Company of 280 Broadway, in New York City, and appeared under at least seven different titles 1906-79. This digest sized publication measures about 17.4 by 24.9 cm and contains 154 pages, plus the wraps. Two pictures from Harpers Weekly of 1890 depict Railroading in the Gay Nineties. FROM PACIFIC TO ATLANTIC IN 100 MINUTES by Lt. Charles E. Chapel, USMC, tells the Panama Railroad story over 5 pages, including 3 photos. WHITE HELL ON THE R.N. RY. by Earle W. Gage is 3 pages on the Reid Newfoundland Railway during the winter of 1905-06. THE BROKEN WHEEL by Aden Donnelly is a Colorado & Southern story on 3 pages. RAILROAD ON THE AIR tells over 4 pages about how the sound effects are made for the Great Northern's "Empire Builder" radio programs. TRUE TALES of the RAILS begins with "SINK THE BRIDGE!" by L.P. McCabe as he tells about working the floats out of Harlem River for the New Haven on 4 pages. LOST IN THE WRECK by Eddie Yates tells what the engineer said when his mill turned over on him on 2/3rds of a page. PROTECTED BY SNAKES by Ricardo P. Diaz begins on a wild, rainy night in December 1918 in Tierra Blanca, Mexico.......found on 2 pages. FICTION this month starts off with a Novelette, THE CINDER KID, by Andrew W. Chapman over 36 illustrated pages. Then comes DEATH CLEARS THE MAIN by A. Leslie on 7 pages; WHEN THE HOBOES RODE by Jacques Girouard on 3 pages; SMOKY MARY on 5 pages by Roger Furlon;, 6 pages of GOOFY GARVIN by Edmund E. Pugsley; VENUS AT THE PUMP by Max E. Burton on 3 pages; PAYMENT ON ACCOUNT on 4 pages by J.L. Beasley; DIRTY WORK ON THE SIDING by Hardy Reeves on 7 pages; STEAM AND STEAM, Part 2 of 4, by E.S. Dellinger on 15 pages and EX-BRAKEMAN on 4 pages by M.F. Maskell. These stories include 2 or more drawings each which add a great deal to the flavor of the times. By the Light of the Lantern has great contempory information and photos spread over 8 pages, including a fine photo of the station at Hell, Norway, so you can tell your friends where to go and how to get there. MIDGET RAILROADING by W.L. Daney covers several one man live steam operations way back when. And there is much more in this little book too numerous to list. This magazine is in excellent condition overall, as these old pulps go, but requires careful handling. The front cover was missing, so a stiff photocopy from my own library has been carefully applied with Scotch No.845 Book Tape. The crossword puzzle awaits your pencil. The rear cover is in good condition.
Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
