    Description

Your bid is for the October - November - December 1958 issue of the BOSTON AND MAINE RAILROAD MAGAZINE. This digest-sized publication measures 15.1 by 22.4 cm and contains the usual 32 pages. That's Patrick B. McGinnis on the cover who appeared on 5 other B&M Magazine covers. The green ink, I think, was an experiment and was never repeated. The May-June 1957 issue had a bit of green on the covers, but this issue is green throughout and makes for poor photo resolution in my opinion. You may well not agree. Page 2 is seasons greetings to all employees from PBM. SEMINAR FOR SUPERVISORS explains the cover photo as President McGinnis opens the three-day management training seminar in the Irish Room at the Hotel Manger. Both McGinnis and the Manger are long gone, but the idea of these seminars certainly has flourished. PBM was certainly not devoid of good ideas. And some simply horrid ones! 3 photos accompany this 3 page plus report. Two more employees reach the 50 year mark and receive their lifetime service passes. SEA HAVEN CHANGES notes that Camp Sea Haven has received over ,000 in money and material from the B&M family in the past 6 years. The camp will now begin to accept child victims of cerebral palsy as the number of polio victims has declined rapidly since the Salk vaccine was introduced. PROMOTIONS are noted in three departments. When James F. McGrath, chief clerk in the track supervisor's office in Salem, Massachusetts, died, he left ,000 to a fellow clerk for kindness shown over the years. It really does pay to be nice! B. AND M. MODERNIZATION MOVES AHEAD starts off with a 5 page report, including 9 photos, of how rail replacement has been throughly mechanized. Then follows a 2 page plus report, with 6 photos, on how the Accounting Department has created a new unit to be known as the Central Data Processing Division. There were probably more clerks in that single key punch section 45 years ago then you'll find employees today on the entire Pan Am Railways. The Automobile Wins as passengers handled thru North Station falls below a million a month. Edaville Seeks Relics. HOW WE'RE DOING is undated in error so probably best ignored. BOSTON EMPLOYEES TOP UNITED FUND QUOTA rates a large photo and a report to fill out the page. The centerfold is 8 more photos showing the mechanized rail change out work. William A. Wheeler, former associate editor of the Magazine, has died. AMONG THOSE RETIRING lists some 35 men and women spread over 4 pages and 7 photos are included. AMONG OUR FORMER ASSOCIATES lists a full page plus of doings of former B&M rails. WITH THE BOSTON AND MAINE FAMILY fills page 23-29 and includes 9 photos. RAILROAD Y NEWS, Meritorious Service and a mystery photo fill page 30. Page 31 is END OF THE RUN with some 65 or so obituaries with all necessary data. B. and M. Golfers Win Inter-Road Trophy fills the rear cover with 2 photos and the story. This magazine is in excellent condition with just minor signs of handling and storage.
Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
