Description
Your bid is for the B&M BULLETIN, Volume 2, Number 2, published by the BOSTON & MAINE R.R. Historical Society, Inc. with a cover date of December 1972. This standard-sized publication measures 21.5 by 27.8 cm and contains 16 pages. The upper photo on the cover shows 4 locomotives pushing Vermont Valley plow No.15 at Bradford, Vermont, in March 1920. Note the boxcar spacers to separate heavy axle loadings on bridges. The lower photo shows Jordon Spreader No. W3593 at Fairlee, Vt., on 30 December 1969 in a H. Bentley Crouch photo. Another HBC photo on page 2 shows a plow extra at Pierce's Bridge, Massachusetts, on 04 March 1969. John A. McGaffigan was editor of this issue with Sharon Anne Hutchinson as his associate. BOSTON AND MAINE MASTODON LOCOMOTIVES by Kenneth F. McCall and Harry A. Frye covers these 12 wheelers over 5 pages, including 5 photos, comparisons with other B&M contemporary classes, a rough dimensional wheeling chart with axle loadings from the 1923 class book, and a page of statistics including construction numbers. THE HAMPDEN RAILROAD, part 3, is a reproduction from the Western New England Magazine for February 1913, with the story by William P. Jennings as continued from the previous issue. This installment fills 4 pages and includes 3 fascinating photos and an immense amount of construction details. The Hampden Railroad has to be one of the most interesting of all New England railroad stories as it was built at great expense and completed and never used. THE WRECK AT PARADISE CROSSING, 1892, by Richard W. Symmes tells this Beverly, Massachusetts, sad, but typical, story over 3 pages, including 4 wreck photos. AMTRAK ON THE BOSTON AND MAINE by Wayne D. Hills devotes 2 pages to the return of passenger service to the B&M by Amtrak on 29 September 1972. Four photos and a complete consist of the first Amtrak MONTREALER are included. And that's all folks. This magazine is in excellent, museum-quality condition with just some staple rust from unheated storage to mention.Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
