Description
Your bid is for the
B&M BULLETIN, Volume 2, Number 1, published by the Boston and Maine
Railroad Historical Society Incorporated with a cover date of September 1972.
This standard-sized publication measures 21.7 by 27.8 cm and contains 16 pages
with John A. McGaffigan and Sharon A. Hutchinson listed as Assistant Editors.
The cover photo by retired B&M DS Donald G. Hills shows the Pine Tree
Limited at Ballardvale, Mass., in 1949. The title page photo shows the Kennebec
Limited leaving Portland behind sister E-7 No.3813. THE BOSTON AND MAINE RAILROAD,
1842 to 1865, Part 2, by Walter E. Lenk, completes this history on 2 pages and
ends with a comprehensive bibliography. New B&M Diesels of 1945 is a page
of drawings of E-7's 3800-3820 with side, front and roof views. The following
page continues the story with text and three photos with one being of
construction at La Grange. BOSTON & MAINE --- MAINE CENTRAL STAINLESS STEEL
PASSENGER CARS by Leroy C. Hutchison begins with a page of text, a photo of
Robin No.4801, a complete roster with all the names shown and then moves on to
the centerfold drawings in HO Scale. BOSTON & MAINE --- MAINE CENTRAL E-7's
are shown in 5 photos on page 10 and then rostered by D.S. Hutchinson on the
next page. THE HAMPDEN RAILROAD, Part 2, by William P. Jennings is compiled from
a 1913 Western New England Magazine and is one of the strangest true rail tales
ever to come out of this part of the world. Essentially, the Hampden RR was
completed at great expense, first class construction all the way, including
depots, and an inspection train was run and than the line was abandoned. And
much of the grading and numerous abutments are still very visible in 2004. Get
up to speed here on 3 pages including 2 photos. COLLAPSE IN HOOSAC TUNNEL by
Carl R. Byron is show and tell on 2 pages including 4 photos. These were tough
times on the B&M and I remember them all too well! This magazine is in
excellent, museum-quality condition. Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see
my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide
personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before
shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for
return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is
POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if
applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after
auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you
are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading. Alden Dreyer, 91 Reynolds
