    Description

And, while I think of it, I have a 4 page listing of the first 128 B&M BULLETINS that tells you the two or three main subjects in each issue and is very handy to keep track of which ones you have, or are interested in. Available via email anytime. To get you started, I’m offering this unique educational collectors' item you will find nowhere else.
Your bid is for THE BULLETIN, Volume 1, Number 1, dated FALL 1971 and published by the editor, Clark H. Gabriel, for the Boston and Maine Railroad Historical Society, Incorporated. This is not a photocopy, nor really a reprint, but is the third printing of the original, using the original materials saved by the editor. And since neither V1#1, nor #2, were copyrighted, the copyright, if any, belongs to the publisher who kindly supplied me with these copies. I’ve had two of the earlier first printings in my hands and this third printing is an exact rendition, typos and all, with the exception of now being printed on quality paper by modern means, instead of a mimeograph machine. Join Editor Clark, and Alden, in celebrating a half century of the B&M BULLETIN. Oh, yes, it was just THE BULLETIN for this one first issue. The next 127 have all been called B&M BULLETIN. This issue measures a standard letter-sized 21.6 by 28 cm and contains 12 pages, plus a legal-sized foldout. The “cover” is in B&M blue, the interior text on yellow paper, and the two drawings on white. HOOSAC TUNNEL AND ITS JUICE JACKS by Carl R. Byron covers 6.3 pages with text, double-spaced right off the typewriter (remember those?). Carl covers briefly the developments that led to electrification and devotes considerable space to problems that arose after the power was on. This piece may be of interest to NYNH&H RR historians as the February 1910 issue of RAILROAD MAN'S MAGAZINE stated correctly that the New Haven planned to electrify the Hoosac Tunnel. And it did so using NYNH&H engineering throughout. Then David S. Hutchinson provides a list of B&M diesel locomotives that have been repainted into blue, white & black, which is of interest to all B&M modelers in the later diesel era. Modelers seem to refer to these 40 or so locomotives as being subjected to the Blue Dip, although I never heard them referred to as such on the railroad that I can recall. THE B&M TALGO by Sharon-Anne Hutchinson and Douglas K. Kydd then covers 1.3 pages. A drawing of the Talgo motive-power unit follows with statistics and the last page is a very basic foldout plan of  the 5000 series electrics. Note: there are NO photographs and the only illustration other than the two drawings you see is in the blue scan. These issues are all in as-published condition and numbered by me as I keep a record of whom they are sent to. Once a train dispatcher, always a train dispatcher. Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
