    Description

The Boston & Providence Rail Road Company (B&P) was an early US railroad connecting these two cities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Operations began in 1834 and continued until 1888, when the Old Colony Railroad leased the line. The railroad's trackage went through a number of ownerships and operations over the years, and today the major portions are owned by both Amtrak and the Metropolitan Boston Transit Authority. For auction is a LARGE LOT of 10 cancelled checks from the B&P. All are dated October 1, 1900 and were for quarterly dividend payments. Affixed to each check is a 2-cent US Documentary Stamp. All are drawn on the Second National Bank, Boston.
