1894 RICHMOND & DANVILLE RAILROAD - R&D RR - SPECIAL PASS - NEAT!
Here's a real survivor from over 135 years ago! It's a special exchange pass issued by the Richmond & Danville Railroad (Southern Railway predecessor) for travel over the R&D, or associated lines (Charlotte, Columbia &Augusta, Columbia & Greenville, or the Georgia Pacific) to an Assistant Ticket Agent of the Pennsylvania Railroad and his wife. The pass was good from March 10, 1894 to May 11, 1894, and was designed for passage to the Ticket Agent's International Association Annual Meeting, which was being held in Los Angeles on April 11th. Signed by W. A. Turk, General Passenger Agent, and issued to ??? Tough to read the script writing of the time. Could be H. T. Vanes or or H. T. Naves, or H. T. Naues. Measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/4" on buff stock. Fine Condition with sharp, crisp edges and corners and light age soiling.
