13 in Duralast floor mount drill press with variable speed drive and tachometer

Description

Floor standing Duralast 1/2-inch drill press with variable speed drive. Condition is "Used". The quill was rebuilt 4 years ago with new bearings and a dc motor drive put on to replace the step pulleys. Made in Taiwan and originally purchased in 1994.  It has a 1/2 inch Jacobs keyed chuck.
The motor is a Leeson 1 horsepower dc motor and the drive is based on a Penta Power KBIC dc motor controller. It operates on 110 volts ac. This provides variable speeds (0-3500 rpm), forward and reverse directions and quick stop so you don’t have to wait for the spindle to coast to a stop.  The drive and a tachometer are housed in a welded steel box mounted on the left side of the head.  As shown in the photo, the motor drives the quill directly through a belt. The table is 11 1/2 inches in diameter. The drill press is 62-1/2 inches high.  During my last move the plastic handle that raises and lowers the table was broken. I repaired the handle and lengthened it as shown in the photo. My requirments for hole drilling have finally exceeded this machine’s capability so I bought a heavier drill press. Local pickup only.
